23 Things on a Stick

A library learning 2.0 project

I was just wondering when/where everyone else is finding the time to do the 23 Things? I really enjoy it, but some days it is hard to fit it in, so I am doing it from the comforts of my home too ;-) as well as a little bit at Caribou the other day :-)

23 Things is very interesting, but also time consuming. Some of the things are very time intensive. I've been permitted to do it at work. It is a real crunch to finish this by the time it is due. The deadline helps push me. I agree with what others have said though, that if it is offered again, it should be stretched out over a longer time.
A colleague I know started and then got frustrated and never got going again.

I've worked on it mostly at home late at night. I've not had the time during the school day, plus it's hard to work on it at school because of the Internet filter. A few of the things I've worked on at the public library where I can confer with a coworker who's also participating - it helps to have someone to talk to, especially when you get stuck!

I've been making time to do it at work - and therefore not getting other things done! But since my job includes the opportunity or ability to incorporate 2.0 tools into our website (and I've actually done that), 23 Things does have immediate relevance for me. And since I have dialup Internet access at home, it would be exceedingly frustrating to try to work on this there!

I, also, have done almost all of it from home. I just can't tell the budget, etc., to wait while I do my 23 Things at work. But I have dial-up at home (need to get rid of that!) and it has been slow. I was also worried about things being blocked at work, but turns out far fewer things are blocked than I thought would be.

There are too many interruptions to make my way through any of the 23 things at work. I just settle in with my laptop and an audio book or favorite TV show and get blogging!

We have been given some work time to do it our 23 Things and for the most part I have been able to find time to work on it when I am not busy helping customers. However, I don't have time to read my colleges blogs so I read do that at home. So, it is a mixture of work and home time I guess.

I have been finding time for 23 Things on the weekends and this week from the TWO school snow days. This April winter can end anytime as I am almost done with 23Things. I have used skills I have learned during tech teacher training I facilitate at work. It has been fantastic and the teachers are excited, too.

I like to do the "heavy lifting" of learning new technology at home, because then in my fast-paced work environment, I feel better able to apply the tools and use them without much frustration. I guess I'm kind of a noodge about needing some quiet to learn new things....."so yesterday", I know. Am working on it.

I'm doing it mostly at home. Some things are a nice length, while others are way too long. I wish there were an estimate of the time each thing would take. It would make it easier to know that I could finish the thing that I start without interrruption.

Many of the Things are blocked at school. I have enjoyed the time I had at home because of snow days. The extra time off is helping me get done, but am enjoying all the new Things I am learning.

In glancing through the replies, it looks the majority of us are doing it at home and on our own time. There's no way I could plug this into my day at work -- actually, I take that back - I could have if I would have started on Day 1 it was available and worked until the last day. It would have been doable...however, life doesn't work that way and many other things prevented that from happening for me!

I'm happy to have done it at home anyway -- I could more time with areas I had higher personal interest in and not feel any guilt :)

I've been having trouble finding the time, as you can tell by the date on my post. I have to do everything at home since at school I have no time and most things are blocked. Our computer at home, though, is in great demand since I have a junior and a senior in high school who need it often. The snowstorm and school cancellation Friday gave me some much needed time.
I've thoroughly enjoyed working on the 23 Things and had many lightbulbs go off in my head. Now I still have to find the time to implement some of those ideas using Web 2.0 tools.
