Tweet tweet! At first I didn't like Twitter, but it's growing on me.
I'm Ginerbia on Twitter.
But I also started a Twitter for our Library that's RochPubLibrary.
I loved facebook from the start - but not too fond of the new layout. Never got into MySpace - it's too public for me, but we do have a library MySpace page (facebook too as of yesterday).
You can find me on Twitter @librariandoa I have had the account since the first set of Things and did not appreciate how interesting it could be until I found many fun and useful Twitter folks just in the last few weeks.
I'm with DOA--I thought Twitter was too dumb for words in the first round, and finally started playing with it in this round. Now that I'm following a lot more people, I find it to be highly addictive! Silly oftentimes, yes, but it seems like Twitter has been exploding in the past few weeks. Just about *everyone* has an account now.
The best way I've found to find new people to follow is to browse who other people are following, rather than trying to use the search function.
I kind of like Twitter. I've been follow Neil Gaiman who's quite prolific in his twittering, but I find it helps so that I know where he's making appearances and when he has new blog posts up.
I'm still thinking of creating a twitter account for the La Crescent Public Library where I'm at since I spent the time to make a new website, but every time I think I have time, something else comes up.
Jill,
Do start a Twitter for your library! I just started one for Rochester Public Library (RochPubLibrary).
We can compare notes on how successful (or not) it is.
I have only posted 3 times so far, but I plan on posting upcoming events/programs, new services, old services, factoids... Just things like that to get our name out there.
Just joined the Ning today. I begin training to be a library media specialist this fall at SCSU. I will also be working as a graduate assistant for learning resources and technology services.
