You might enjoy Barton Sutter's poem "Not Sleeping at Bill Holm's House," published in last Sunday's Star Tribune. Sutter describes Holm as "the polar bear of American literature."

The poem is also in my post "Bill Holm, Barton Sutter, Carl Sandburg" in my blog Paper Baubles.

Thanks for the link, Andrea. Now I added that to my delicious account, and am a "follower" of Tribune books on twitter. I usually read the Sunday STRIB, but was gone last Sunday, and missed it. Barton Sutter was actually in college with me (where Bill Holm taught!). "Polar bear of American literature" is a great description.

There is a beautiful tribute to Bill at http://jonathanchapman.com/ It is a slideshow with audio that is quite moving. We've lost a friend.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tribute, Ruth. I just sent the link to English teachers at our college who also might appreciate the slideshow honoring Bill Holm.

I'm glad you enjoyed it and are able to share it with others.

I did enjoy reading Barton Sutter's poem. I have been a part of Bill Holm's fan club since "Boxelder Bug Variations". At our "small" library we are having our 2nd Annual Poetry night on Wed, and will remember Bill Holm then, also.

Thanks for the comments on Bill Holm. How was your 2nd Annual Poetry Night?
