I started to look at Kindles online...way out of my budget but I think I would actually use one. I wondered if anyone knew anything about them and if they are downloadable through a library's E-book collection? Just curious.
I don't know if you check this site anymore (April) but I just checked mine and saw your post. I own a Kindle and just love it. The price has come down and a newer model has been added--2 new versions actually. There is lots of info to be found just by reading about it on Amazon. I never bought new books before but at $9.99 I do now for my Kindle. I have the Kindle 1. There are some things I don't like about it which I bet are addressed in Kindle 2. I used to own a different ebook reader before they all went out of business. I think the Kindle will make it. There is also the Sony Reader, but it's way easier to download a Kindle book off of Amazon. You don't need a phone or a computer.
The Kindle folk don't want libraries to loan out Kindles or books to patrons, but some do anyway. So far Kindle hasn't had anyone arrested. Our library does not loan out Kindles or Kindle books. I'm fairly sure that no libraries let patrons download ebooks from the catalog onto a Kindle. Some will purchase an ebook from Amazon and download it onto a Kindle and then loan the Kindle out.
If you have more questions, maybe I can answer them. Oh, if you have an ipod touch or iphone, you can download the free Kindle app and read your purchased Kindle books on your pod. That's kind of a neat feature if you have your ipod with you but not your Kindle reader.
