Thing 38, Screencasting. We're not really doing this at our library but I think it has the potential to be a very useful tool for helping our students learn to use applications and databases. In any case, this will be an excuse to spend time investigating.
The most interesting thing for me would be # 42. It is the music 2.0 The reason why I will like it is, that I already listen to a radio station on the web, but it will be nice to find out more about the different choices there are. Right now I am confined to on german radio station, which is helpful, but I would like to listen to some american ones.
Also the password creator sounds like fun, but the only problem I will have with this one is, to remember the individual passwords.
What kind of things do you talk about in twitter? I am wondering how to use it. I have a booring life and don't have a clue what I would twitter about.
There's a nice twitter discussion that might help you with some of your twitter questions. There are people there that you can follow, and who are willing to answer questions about twitter.
I'm looking forward to Thing 36 Comic Relief--Generate Some Fun and Thing 33 Travel 2.0. I haven't looked farther on them than the titles of the things along the side. (Isn't that kind of like reading the ending of the book before you're even half-way done?)
I too am looking forward to Thing38, Screencasting. In fact, I'm skipping ahead to this (I have my orders ...). Anita and I decided to have some little screencasts running during our annual National Library Week Open House. Munch one of 12 types of cookies while you Learn Something. My first one will be How to Use the Links Toolbar (in IE). So - we have SnagIt and I bought it for my laptop/PC at home (hey, it's only 40 bucks). Anita tried making a little screencast using SnagIt using her Mac at home. I may find the microphone aspect challenging - might have to buy one. Of course, if it's successful, I'm going to post it EVERYWHERE.
Pat, your statement above was so liberating! I get positively anal about doing things in order - unless someone elbows me and says, Uh, dummy, Do What You Want. ~K
The one that caught my eye first is Thing 32--Google Maps & Mashups. I started working on my own Google Map about a year ago, but was having problems getting it to do what I wanted. I'm hoping Thing 32 will help. I'm also curious about the other mashup Things, 40 and 41. And More Ways to Use RSS & Delicious (Thing 30) might let me discover ways to make better, and more consistent, use of those tools. I'm all for anything that would make me more productive!
