All right, repeat after me: "You Are Never Too Old To Go Back To School." I worked in the printing business for 15 years before it TANKED and I quit my job and decided to go to library school. Went to St. Kate's (1996; 3rd class - that was fun). Bes…

OK, went to Yarnover 2009 on Saturday. Hadn't even heard of this before - it's an all-day knitting conference and market sponsored by the Minnesota Knitters Guild. Went in the morning only. Took a class from Chris Bylsma (the Crayon Box jacket desig…

Thanks. I was surprised when I heard about Gage too.

I checked out the online stores and the manufacturer (Rowan) didn't have the colors specified in the patterns. I swear they print those pattern books and stop making the colors. Oh well, I'll get some substitutes - aaarrrggh. It will work. I discove…

We walked through Crawford about a year ago. It's now coed. Hard to get used to! I can't believe the place is still standing upright. If I heard the rumor correctly, MSU was going to tear Gage down and re-do it ... old Crawford/McElroy must have bee…

Great photo! My sister graduated from MSU in 1968, and met with her friends there last summer. (from 40 years ago too!). I lived in Crawford briefly.

Twitter tools

The latest issue of Bench & Bar of Minnesota (April 2009) has a column by Robert J. Ambrogi titled "Tools to Make Twitter Sing." He lists 20 different tools (with amusing names in themselves, e.g. "OutTwit," a tool which allows you to use Twitter from Microsoft Outlook). If you don't have access to Bench & Bar, enter "Make Twitter Sing" in Google to find this article online in various legal technology publications.

It might be one of the applications. Do you use Facebook's chat? I seen the option, but haven't used it.

Yes, I'm a Guild member. I'm going to Yarnover as well. The price does look a bit exorbitant, but you're paying to fly in and board the luminaries of the knitting world. But hey, it's cheaper to see those luminaries here than to trek down to Chicago for Stitches Midwest, and the goody bag sometimes has some really good quality goodies in it. I'm hoping to have a better time this year--not that last year was bad, but by luck, it was the morning after my all-evening cataloging class, so I was sleep-deprived, and then I ran out of yarn for the project I'd brought with me to pass the time with and had nothing else to work on (eek!).

I'll probably be skipping the KnitOut; I have other things planned for that weekend and it takes forever to get to the MOA.

I'm Silvernfire on Ravelry, lured there by a friend with no connections to state government. I confess to being more addicted to Ravelry's database possibilities (always looking for a better way to record my projects and itemize my stash) than the social networking aspect, but I play with the latter as well. Oh, and my blog for this adventure is 23 Distractions.

Well, as long as I'm on a knitting theme: are you a member of the Minnesota Knitters' Guild? Going to Yarnover?

I see you took the plunge. See? That wasn't too bad.

Hey, you're on Ravelry?
