23 Things on a Stick

A library learning 2.0 project

As you can see from the photos I uploaded, one of my favorites is one of a series of pictures I took of my grandson engrossed in a book that was new to him at the time, Flotsam by David Wiesner. He was so busy following the story in the picture book that he didn't even know I was snapping the shots. I've done a lot of things with that one photo using various web2.0 applications. I've turned it into a jigsaw puzzle that you can actually do online and then a real jigsaw delivered in a tin, a pencil sketch, an image made of words in two different forms, a postage stamp, and a Rubik's cube.
Who knew you could do such wonderfully artistic things with applications that are free online. Now I have many versions of my favorite and can frame them and make a wall grouping that is very striking and unique. I love it!

Actually, I used another process to get the image into a format that was usable on Blogger so I'm very grateful for the conversion site you found. Thanks a bunch!

Cool site! You probably already have found this, but I did find this website to convert .svg to .jpeg. It worked really fast. http://www.fileformat.info/convert/image/svg2raster.htm

I blogged about it here: http://nclc23things.blogspot.com/2008/05/more-image-play-with-my-favorite.html

You have to experiment a little with it, but it's very cool once you figure it out.

I didn't exactly use the words of the book-- you can use whatever words you choose, mine were" DJ Reading picturebook fun Flotsam by David Wiesner." There's some wonderful examples on the Textorizer site..I hope the links still work. Use the online version of Textorizer..TextorizerII is fun also.

How did you convert your grandson's picture to the words of the book? What a neat effect!
